Social Support


Logan Central Respite Centre offers social support in our Centre and Flexible Respite in the home for CHSP consumers (over 65 years) People in receipt of Home Care Packages can still access our services through brokerage with their Home Care Package Provider.

Logan Central Respite Centre is a registered NDIS service provider Reg No. 4-DS17LCM We can offer group and personal support for activities and group activities in our centre through brokerage agreements.

Logan Central Respite Centre provides social support and flexible respite for people who are experiencing challenges in day to day living in the community. This gives clients the opportunity to socialise and participate in activities in a safe and caring environment whilst at the centre or out in the community. During this time carers are able to have some respite from their caring role.

Transport is provided in the Logan Central area by the Respite Centre Bus which is equipped with a wheelchair hoist. If clients live outside the Logan Central pick up area they can access the services with their own or alternative transport. Programs and activities are designed whenever possible, to meet individual clients’ expressed wishes and identified needs.

Morning tea and a hot lunch are  provided at the Centre. Each day a 2 course meal is supplied ar  the Centre  that includes, main meal and dessert. The main meals are nutritional and meet dietary requirements such as diabetic, gluten free, low fat and cultural requirements. When on outings for example  to the beach, clients enjoy fresh local fish and chips and hamburgers.

Special dietary needs are observed. A fee may be charged, to assist with covering costs of main meal (lunch), transport and other activities, including outings. Fee relief in cases of need can be discussed in confidence with the Coordinator. A quiet area with a bed and reclining chairs are available for clients to rest if they wish.

Flexible Respite In Home Support

Depending on the individual need flexible respite can be offered in the home. Trained carers can look after the individual in the home for a few hours during the day to enable the carer free time to go shopping or do whatever they choose for rest and recreation. Our caring flexible respite workers can also assist the client with shopping, outings, appointments or other activities to give the carer a break.

They can also give assistance with personal care tasks such as toileting, showering, shaving and hair care: personal with mobilizing transferring, meals or managing daily activities; household tasks as directed; individual support services such as transport or accompanying to appointments or activities as directed to promote the physical psychological or social well being.

Other Services

Our fully trained staff and volunteers are keen to assist you to participate in programs and activities within a safe and friendly environment at our Centre. We are open Tuesday to Thursday between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm for a wide range of positive activities and social outings and in home service is available Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm.

Our caring staff are also available to help you in your home, or to take you to local appointments, shopping or social outings.

We have an Art Therapist on staff and light exercise programs.

Domestic Assistance

Domestic assistance can be provided in clients homes. This can include vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, making beds and doing laundry.

This is available from Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.00pm for 1 ½ hours to 2 hours per day.
